GoPro Player + ReelSteady is GoPro's official app for editing videos recorded with its action cameras. With this app, you can trim frames in your videos to their maximum quality, view videos recorded in 360º, correct lens distortion, or export several videos at once.
However, one of the most useful features of GoPro Player + ReelSteady is the ReelSteady filter that can be applied to your videos. With this stabilization filter, your videos will look much smoother and clearer. To be able to use this feature, the app must detect from your added video's metadata that it has been recorded with a GoPro. Otherwise, you won't be able to use it.
To export the video, there are three different formats: Cineform, HEVC and H.264. The former offers the highest quality, but also a larger final file size. With the H.264 format, the file size is smaller, but the best option is always to use HEVC. With HEVC, you'll get a higher image quality and a smaller final file size.
To compress a video in HEVC, it's recommended that you have a computer capable of encoding that video by hardware, as it will take less time and consume fewer resources. When exporting, you can also choose the resolution, such as 4K or 5.6K. For importing videos, GoPro Player + ReelSteady supports MP4, MOV and 360 video formats. For exporting, only the MP4 format is used.
So, if you have a GoPro and want to apply the ReelSteady effect to your videos or simply compress them with little risk to the quality, downloading GoPro Player + ReelSteady is an excellent way to do so.
